Thirty seasons ago, West Coast Dance Explosion began as a bold idea — to create a convention that celebrated artistry, challenged dancers to push their limits, and build a community that would last far beyond a weekend event.

​

WCDE started with nothing but a passion for dance, a handful of dedicated artists, and the belief that young dancers deserved access to the very best training, mentorship, and stage experiences in the industry. Over the years, the company has faced challenges, embraced change, and grown into one of the most respected names in dance education and competition.

​

In an industry that is merging under large corporate umbrellas, we've chosen a different path — independently owned and artistically driven. That independence is our strength. It allows us to focus on one vision, make decisions that put dancers and studios first, and protect the quality, integrity, and personal connection that has defined WCDE for three decades.

​

The fire in our name has always been more than a metaphor — it’s the energy that fuels every class, every performance, every standing ovation. This season, our 30th, we honor that spirit with the theme Born of Fire — a reminder that greatness is forged in passion, dedication, and the courage to keep rising.

Whether you are stepping onto a WCDE stage for the first time or returning for another season, you are part of this legacy. You bring your years of studio training to our floor, and here, you’ll test yourself, break barriers, and discover new possibilities.
